Homework 4, Problem #1

yasmine
On question number 4 of problem #1, it asks for the mean of Y. I understand this means nxP, I think. I understand n is 3, but what is p? I'm confused on this problem. Thank you for your help!

Hi yasmine,

The distribution of the discrete random variable is given.
Without assuming any binomial structure,
what is the general approach to find out the mean?
Can you think of any formula?
